eSIM Lifecycle

From checkout to active eSIM service.

The eSIM Lifecycle covers the path from purchase to active mobile service.

An eSIM is the digital SIM profile that lets a compatible device connect without a physical SIM card.

The Lifecycle

The Onyx eSIM path has five stages: purchase, delivery, installation, activation, and management.

Each stage has a clear purpose. Buy the plan. Receive the eSIM. Install it on the device. Activate service. Manage the connection from the Onyx account.

Purchase

Choose the region, data amount, and optional number features. Review the recurring subscription before checkout.

After payment, Onyx prepares the service and moves you into activation.

Delivery

The eSIM details are delivered through the Onyx experience.

Depending on the device and flow, activation may involve a QR code, device handoff, or instructions for manual setup. The product makes the next step clear.

Installation

Install the eSIM on a compatible phone.

Device behavior varies. Some phones support a smoother handoff. Others require scanning a code or opening cellular settings. Follow the instructions shown in the product and avoid deleting the eSIM unless support directs you to do so.

Activation

Activation turns installed service into usable mobile access.

The device may need cellular data settings, roaming settings, or a brief connection period before service is ready. Once active, the plan appears in your account and is managed from the app.

Management

After activation, use Onyx to review service state, usage, subscription details, and support options.

If service is not working, check device compatibility, region coverage, activation state, and settings before assuming the plan failed.

Recovery

eSIM recovery depends on the account and device state.

Do not share eSIM details publicly. Do not install the same eSIM on multiple devices unless the product explicitly supports it. If a device is lost, changed, or reset, use Onyx support paths to recover service safely.

What To Know

An eSIM is not the whole product. It is the way service reaches the device.

The Onyx account is where you manage plan, identity, support, and future capabilities.
